Ritika Granite & Tiles Degana

We are out in Village Kiroda, which is part of the Degana tehsil. Our place is on the Vidisha Road, right near State Highway 59. Because we are on the highway, we get a lot of trucks passing by, which kicks up a massive amount of dust. It’s a struggle to keep the granite slabs and tiles looking clean. We have a lot of heavy stock sitting out in the yard. Moving these stones is back-breaking work and we use some old machinery that has seen better days. The sun out here in Rajasthan is no joke. It gets incredibly hot, and the stone holds the heat for hours. My office is just a small room with a fan that barely works. I usually keep a jug of cold water nearby. People stop by on their way to or from the city. Most of them are building houses in the nearby villages or in Degana itself. The stones we have come in different colors and patterns, and I spend a lot of time explaining the difference between them to people who aren't sure what they want. It’s a bit of a slow pace out here compared to the city. We close up when it gets dark because the highway isn't very well lit. It’s just a simple yard for selling stone, run by people who don't mind getting their hands dirty. We just take it one day at a time here.
