Nalanda Gurukula International School

Nalanda Gurukula International School is out in Guddenahalli, which is near Periyapatna in the Mysore district. It is a bit of a drive to get out here, but the area is much greener and quieter than the city. You can often smell the nearby fields and see farmers working while you are on the way to the school gates. The campus is fairly spread out, which means there is a lot of walking between the different blocks. We have a garden area that we try to keep tidy, though the weeds usually grow faster than we can pull them. The students here come from various backgrounds, some from the town and others from the surrounding countryside. Our days are long, and the teachers often stay back to help kids who are struggling with their English or math. It is an international school by name, but we keep things very practical and grounded. There is a lot of chalk dust on the floors by the end of the day, and the library books are a bit worn out from so many hands touching them. We do not have a lot of bells and whistles. It is mostly just a place for learning where things are a bit slow-paced and calm. We focus on the daily lessons and making sure the bus routes run on time because that is what really matters at the end of the day.
