We operate out of the Shahviri Building in Kalbadevi. If you know Mumbai, you know how crowded Lohar Chawl gets. It’s a maze of shops and narrow lanes. Our place is on the ground floor, right on R S Sapre Marg. Dealing with desi cow products in the middle of a busy commercial hub like this is interesting. We spend most of our mornings unloading stuff and checking the bottles or packages. It is quite dusty around here because of all the construction and the traffic, so we are constantly wiping down the counters. There are no fancy decorations in our shop. It is just shelves and a small desk where we handle the bills. Most people who come in are regulars from the neighborhood or folks who work in the surrounding markets. We don’t really do much advertising. People just find us by walking past or hearing about it from someone else. The building itself is quite old, like most things in this part of town. Sometimes the electricity acts up or the water pressure is low, but we manage. We’ve got a small crew here. Everyone knows each other. We drink a lot of tea while waiting for the next delivery to arrive. It’s a simple life in a very busy part of the city, and we just focus on getting the products to the people who want them without making a big fuss about it.
