Kings Ice Cream Limited

Our place is in the Government Industrial Estate at Charkop, Kandivli West. It’s unit 115/A. It’s quite a busy area with lots of small factories. Being an ice cream place, we have these massive walk-in freezers. It’s a weird feeling, going from the Mumbai heat into a room that’s freezing cold. We spend a lot of time in heavy jackets even when it’s boiling outside. We make a lot of different flavors, and the smell of vanilla or strawberry is usually hanging around the loading dock. We don't have a fancy showroom. It’s mostly just production lines and packing boxes. We use some old recipes that we haven't changed much. We don't see the point in fixing what isn't broken. The staff here has a routine. We start early, get the mix ready, and then the machines take over for a bit. We do a lot of the packing by hand though. It’s a bit messy sometimes, especially when a lid doesn't fit right or a machine spills. We don't bother with big slogans or anything. We just make the ice cream and get it onto the refrigerated trucks before it starts to melt. It’s a lot of pressure when the sun is out, but we manage. People know our trucks around the neighborhood. We’re just a local business trying to keep things cold. It's a living, and we enjoy it.
