Vinayak Flowers

If you walk down T C M Royan Road in Goregaon West, you’ll find us in the Vinay Kumkum Arcade. We are right at number 22. It’s a busy little spot, especially being right across from Lalit Bar. We see all sorts of people walking by throughout the day. The shop isn't fancy or anything, just a place where we stock whatever flowers are in season right now. Usually, the floor is a bit wet from the buckets we use to keep everything hydrated and fresh. We spend a lot of time trimming stems and cleaning up leaves that fall on the ground during the rush. It’s a lot of manual work that people don't see when they just buy a bunch of stems. My cousins help me run things here most of the time, so we keep it in the family. We get the stock from the main markets while it is still dark outside, usually before the city even wakes up. Sometimes the traffic on Royan Road is a nightmare, but that’s just how things are in Goregaon. We don't really do much advertising; people just know we are here in the arcade because we've been around for a while. Some days are slow, and we just sit on our stools and watch the cars go by. Other days, we can barely keep up with the orders for weddings or small functions nearby. We just keep our heads down and do the job as best as we can.
