About Jai Malhar Flowers Stall – Event & Planning in Mumbai
The stall is located in Sakinaka, over in Dollars Colony at the 9th Cross. It’s a small space, but we pack it full of whatever is fresh that morning. The day starts very early, long before most people are even awake, because that is when the best flowers arrive from the market. We spend a lot of time trimming stems, changing the water in the buckets, and sweeping up fallen petals. It’s a wet and messy job, to be honest. Your hands stay damp most of the day. People stop by on their way to work or when they’re headed home, looking for something for a shrine or a gift. We don't do fancy arrangements with ribbons and glitter. It’s mostly just loose flowers or simple garlands. The smell is nice, though it’s mixed with the usual city smells of Sakinaka. We have a small stool to sit on when things are quiet, but usually, we are on our feet. The 5th Main road gets pretty busy, so there is always noise from the rickshaws. We’ve been at this corner for a good while. We don't have a big sign, just the flowers sitting out where people can see them. It’s a simple way to make a living. We just sell what we have and close up when the buckets are empty. Then we do it all again the next morning. It is a steady life for us.
