Our workshop is over in the Adarsh Industrial Estate, specifically unit A-206. It is tucked away on V.K.K. Menon Road in the Chakala part of Andheri East. Being in an industrial estate means there is always a lot of clanging and the smell of grease in the air. We call ourselves Vijaya Precisionist because we spend our hours looking at very small parts and making sure they are the right size. It is tedious work sometimes, but someone has to do it. The machines take up most of the space, so there isn't much room to walk around. We have a small table where we keep the logs and the measuring tools. Andheri is always crowded, so getting here in the morning is a bit of a struggle with the traffic near the station. Once we are inside and the machines are running, we don't really notice the noise from outside. We wear work clothes that usually end up with a few stains by noon. It is a practical life. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone making fancy brochures. Most of our work comes from people who just know where we are located. We focus on the metal and the precision required for the job. It is a lot of standing and checking gauges, but it feels good to finish a batch and see it packed up. The lights are a bit dim in the corners, but we have lamps over the work areas to see clearly.
