Variety Bag House

Our shop is up on the first floor of the building near Mehfil Hall on Moreland Road. If you know Mumbai Central, you know how loud and fast everything moves around here. We called it Variety Bag House because we try to keep a bit of everything on the shelves. There are backpacks, travel bags, and small pouches tucked into every corner. The stairs coming up are a bit narrow, but once you’re inside, it’s just rows and rows of stitched fabric and zippers. We spend a lot of time fixing displays or checking the stitching on a new batch that just arrived. It’s not a polished showroom. It’s more of a place where bags are piled up and we’re constantly moving them around to find what someone asked for. Moreland Road is always full of traffic and people shouting, so we hear that all day through the windows. Sometimes the dust from the street gets in, so we’re always wiping things down. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything. It’s just us helping people pick a bag that won't fall apart after a week. We’ve seen the area change a lot over the years, but the shop stays pretty much the same. We just keep the lights on and wait for the next person to walk up the stairs. It’s a simple way to spend the day, really.
