United India Leather Products

Our setup at United India Leather Products is a bit different because we are located in Flat No 404 of the Sai Apts. That is inside the Mulund Industrial Estate on Road No. 27 in Thane. It’s an apartment building, but we use the space for our leather work. It can be a bit of a trek up to the fourth floor, but we've gotten used to it. The smell of leather is the first thing you notice when you walk through the door. We have shelves full of hides and finished products like belts and wallets stacked up. Because we are in a residential-style building, we have to keep things relatively quiet so we don't bother the neighbors. We don't have big industrial machines that shake the floor. Instead, we do a lot of the finishing and assembly by hand or with smaller equipment. It’s a small operation, just a few of us working at benches. We spend a lot of time checking the texture of the leather and making sure the dyes have set properly. Space is tight, so we have to stay organized, or you won't be able to find anything. We’ve been in this spot for several years now, and while it isn't a traditional factory, it serves our needs just fine. We just focus on getting the leather goods ready for the shops.
