Uma Engg. Works

Our shop, Uma Engg. Works, is located in the Copper Gaon Estate over in Mazagaon, specifically on Love Lane. It’s an old part of Byculla, and you can feel the history in the buildings around here. We’ve been working out of this space for a long time. It’s a bit cramped, like most places in this part of the city, but we make it work. Every inch of the floor is covered with something, whether it’s a lathe machine, a pile of scrap metal, or a half-finished project for a client. We do general engineering work, mostly small to medium parts that require a bit of manual effort. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, but we just keep the fans going and carry on. The neighbors are mostly other small workshops, so there’s always a bit of a buzz in the air. We aren't some big corporation with a fancy lobby. If you come to see us, you’ll probably find us in the middle of a job, maybe covered in a bit of dust and grease. We value the relationships we have with the people around here. Some of our customers have been coming to us since we first opened the doors. We just take it one day at a time, making sure the parts we make are solid and done the way they were asked for. There is something satisfying about seeing a piece of raw metal turn into something useful by the end of the day.
