Trips And Treats operates out of Flat No. 14 on Kashinath Shuru Road in Prabhadevi. It’s a typical Mumbai apartment converted into a workspace, so it feels more like a home than an office. We have maps pinned to the walls and stacks of travel brochures piled up on the dining table. Being in Prabhadevi, we’re right in the middle of the city’s chaos, with the sound of traffic and the sea breeze always present. Most of our day is spent on the phone or on the computer, trying to line up hotels and transport for people. We also have boxes of treats and gifts that we put together, so the place often smells like tea and sweets. It’s a bit of a squeeze when we have all our supplies delivered, and we often have to shuffle furniture around to make room. We aren't a massive travel company with a call center. It’s just a few of us who know our way around a booking system. We deal with the usual travel headaches like cancelled flights or fully booked hotels, and we just try to sort them out as best as we can. Sometimes the internet is slow, or the Mumbai rain makes the walls a bit damp, but we just keep going. It’s a cozy way to work, and we like that we can just walk down the street for a vada pav when we get hungry.
