Thorat Masala

Thorat Masala is based at Plot No.A/363 along Sant Kakaia Marg, right near Barai Cross Road in Dharavi. If you know this area, you know it’s always moving and full of life. Our space is just one of many small businesses working hard every day. We focus on spices, specifically the blends that people use in their daily cooking. The air in our workshop is always heavy with the scent of roasted cumin and cinnamon. We don't have much room to spare, so every corner of the shop is used for storage or for the grinding machines. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes, but we make it work. We aren't a big factory with shiny floors. Our floors are made of concrete and they get stained by the natural colors of the spices. We do a lot of the work by hand, from sorting the seeds to filling the packets. It’s a family-style environment where everyone knows what needs to be done without being told. We don't do any big promotions. People come to us because they know we are right here in the neighborhood. They see us working when they walk past on the cross road. We’ve been part of this community for a long time, and we just keep doing what we do best. It’s simple, honest work that helps people make their food taste a little bit better at home. We just stick to what we know.
