Thakur Flowers

Thakur Flowers has been at 15/16A Vijaynagar Building for a long time. It’s on Sinhgad Road, right in the Manik Baug area of Dadar West. Dadar is always a bit of a rush, especially with the market so close by. I wake up before the sun is even out to go see what the trucks brought in. By the time I get back to the shop, the tea stall next door is already busy. The shop isn't very large, so we have to use the space outside on the sidewalk sometimes. It’s a lot of work, keeping everything fresh when the sun hits the front of the building in the afternoon. We have some old wooden tables that have seen better days, but they hold the weight of the heavy pots just fine. The floor is mostly stone and stays cool, which is nice. Sometimes the neighbors come by just to chat about the weather or the traffic on Sinhgad Road. We don't do anything flashy. It’s just us, some scissors, and a lot of string. My hands are always a bit rough from the stalks, but you get used to it after a few years. It’s just a local business in a busy part of town. We stay open until the last few bundles are gone or until we’re too tired to keep the lights on.
