Thackers Restaurant

Thackers Restaurant is right there at Birla Kreeda Kendra on Charni Road in Mumbai. We are in the 400004 area, right by Chowpatty. If you know the Charni Road station, we aren't far from there at all. Being so close to the sea means we get a bit of a breeze, but the salt air also means we have to paint the walls more often than most people. It’s a busy spot, especially in the evenings when everyone comes out to the beach. We’ve been here for quite some time and have seen many generations of families walking past our doors. The building itself has a lot of history. We don't really go for any of that modern, cold corporate look. Our place feels a bit more lived-in and comfortable. We have a small staff, many of whom have worked here for years. We don't have any big slogans or anything written on the walls. We just try to keep the tables clean and the doors open. Every morning starts with the same routine of getting things ready before the lunch crowd hits. It’s a lot of physical work, standing on our feet and moving around. We aren't trying to be the most famous place in Mumbai, we just want to be a reliable spot on Charni Road where people know what to expect. It’s a simple, local way of doing things.
