Texas Leather Pvt. Ltd. is situated at No. 276/22 in the New Municipal Chawl. We are right on the Sion-Bandra Link Road, very close to the Om Datta Co-op Soc in Dharavi. This area is always full of activity and movement. Our shop is part of the local fabric of the neighborhood. We work with leather every day, so there is always that specific smell in the air. It’s a small space, like most places around here, but we’ve organized it to fit our tools and materials. We spend a lot of time cutting and stitching. It’s physical work and your hands get tired by the end of the shift. We don’t have a fancy website or a big marketing budget. We just rely on the work we do. People around Dharavi know where to find us if they need something done. The traffic on the Link Road can be quite loud, but we just turn up the radio and keep going. It’s an honest way to make a living. We have a few long-time workers who really know their way around a hide. We aren't a corporate giant, just a local outfit trying to do things right. We stay busy with various orders and try to keep our head down and work hard. Sometimes the rain leaks in a bit when it is heavy, but we just put a bucket down and carry on with our tasks.
