Our office is up on the 14th floor of Arihant Tower, which is right on Gd Ambekar Road in Parel Village. If you have ever been to Parel, you know how crowded it gets during the rush hour with all the people coming from the station. It is a tall building and the view from the window is mostly other buildings and some of the older rooftops of the village area below. We spend most of our time looking at spreadsheets and talking to folks about their vehicle payments. It is the kind of place where the phones are always ringing and someone is usually looking for a file that got moved to the wrong cabinet. We have a small pantry where we keep the kettle and some biscuits for when the afternoons get long. Mumbai life is fast, and our office is no different. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the paperwork just piles up on the desks. Nobody here wears those stiff suits unless there is a very big meeting, which is rare. Mostly we are just in our regular shirts, drinking chai and trying to get through the list of calls for the day. It is a solid group of people working here, and we have been in this Mumbai location for quite a while now. The elevator in this tower can be a bit slow in the mornings, so we have all learned to leave home five minutes earlier to avoid being late to our desks.
