Taher & Sons

We are located at 187/189 Erskine Road, right in the middle of the Bazaar. Taher & Sons is a family name and we have been in this spot for many years. The bazaar is always crowded and noisy, with people shouting and carts moving through the narrow streets. Our shop is packed from floor to ceiling with all sorts of items. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than two people come in at once, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. We don’t have a big corporate strategy or a five-year plan. We just open the shutters in the morning and see what the day brings. Most of our customers are regulars who live or work nearby. We know their names and what they usually need. Sometimes we sit on the stools outside and have tea while waiting for the next person to stop by. The inventory changes quite a bit, but we generally keep the same kinds of goods that people expect from us. It gets very hot in the summer and the monsoon rains can make the streets quite messy, but we are used to it. We aren’t interested in being the biggest shop around, we just want to keep things running smoothly and take care of the people who walk through our door. It is a traditional way of doing business and it suits us just fine.
