Reliance Fresh

This store is located right in the Deonar Municipal Colony. It is a busy spot because there are so many families living in the colony who stop by every single day. We spend most of our shifts unpacking crates of vegetables or stacking bags of rice on the shelves. It gets very humid here in Mumbai, so the air conditioning in the store is a relief for us and the people who shop here. We aren't a big corporate team; we are just the staff who live nearby and work the shifts. Sometimes the deliveries are late because of the traffic in Deonar, and we have to rush to get everything out before the evening crowd arrives. The floors need constant sweeping, especially during the rains when everyone brings in mud. It’s a very practical kind of job. We know a lot of the regular customers by face because they come in for their milk and bread every morning. We don't have any fancy mission statements or anything like that. We just make sure the lights are on, the stock is out, and the scales are working. It’s a lot of physical work, standing on our feet all day, but we are used to it by now. The colony is a lively place to be, and there is always something going on outside the doors. We just keep things running so the neighbors can get what they need.
