Our small travel shop is over in Kandivali East, on St John Baptist Road at the Lou Paul building. It is not a very big office, just enough room for a couple of desks and some chairs for people to sit while we look up flights. We spend a lot of time on the computer checking schedules and trying to find the best routes for people going home or on vacation. It can be quite frustrating when the internet goes slow or a booking system crashes right in the middle of a ticket. Most of the people who come to us live right here in the neighborhood. They stop by on their way to the market or after picking up their kids from school. We’ve been here for a while now, so we know most of the families around Kandivali. Sometimes people just come in to ask about visa rules or how much a suitcase weighs. We don't mind. It’s part of being a local business. The street outside is usually noisy with traffic and people shouting, but inside it’s mostly just the sound of typing and the ceiling fan. We don't have any fancy posters on the walls, just some old calendars and a few maps. My uncle started this place and I’ve been helping him out for the last few years. It’s a steady job and we get to hear a lot of stories about where people are going.
