Super Auto Traders

If you know Lamington Road, you know it is a crowded and loud place to be. Super Auto Traders is right in the middle of it at Siddick Ebrahim Mansion, C/4. Our shop is near the Minerva Cinema, so there is always noise from the street and people rushing by. It is a small space, mostly filled with boxes of auto parts and metal components stacked up to the ceiling. We have been here at Grant Road for years. The floor is a bit stained from oil and grease, and the old ceiling fan makes a clicking sound when it is on high, but it keeps us cool enough. Dealing with car parts means your hands are rarely clean. We spend most of the day looking through catalogs or checking the back shelves for something a customer needs. It is not like those shiny showrooms you see in magazines. It is a working shop where things get dusty. Sometimes the traffic outside is so loud we have to shout just to hear each other. We get a lot of regulars who come in for specific bits and pieces for their old trucks or cars. There is usually a stack of invoices on the wooden counter and a half-finished cup of chai nearby. We just try to keep things moving. When the sun goes down, the lights from the cinema reflect off our front windows. (241 words)
