Sai Motors

Our shop, Sai Motors, is over at Gala No. 66/A in the Hemant Manjerkar Market in Koliwada. It’s a typical mechanic’s spot, so you can expect to see plenty of oil stains on the floor and tools scattered around the work area. We spend our days under the hoods of cars or lying on the ground looking at engines that won't start. It’s greasy work and our hands are never really clean even after we wash them. The market is a very lively place to be, always people moving around and shouting to be heard. We’ve got a small space in the gala but we manage to fit a lot of equipment into it. Sometimes there’s a long line of vehicles waiting outside on the narrow street. We just take them one by one as fast as we can. It’s not the quietest job, what with the constant sound of engines revving and metal clanking against metal. We don't have an office with air conditioning or fancy chairs; we just work right there in the open gala. It gets incredibly hot in the summer and a bit damp when the rains come. But we’ve got our regular customers who have been coming to us for many years now. They know exactly where to find us in the middle of the market. We don't bother with fancy signs or promotions to get people in. We just fix what needs fixing and get people back on the road. It’s honest work and we’ve been doing it a long time here in Koliwada.
