Dinesh Motors

Being right beside the Wadgaon Police Chowki in Ravivar Peth means things are never really quiet. Dinesh Motors has been sitting on this stretch of road in Mumbai for a long time. There is always a lot of dust and the sound of horns. We spend most of our time out on the pavement or just inside the shop door. Cars come in with all sorts of issues. Some days it is just oil changes and other days we are digging deep into an engine. Our hands are usually covered in grease by ten in the morning. The police guys from the chowki often stop by just to say hello or have a quick word. It is a busy neighborhood. We have a few old stools where customers sit while they wait. We don't have a waiting room with air conditioning or anything like that. People just stand around and talk while we work. The tools are old but they still work fine for what we need. Sometimes we have to wait a day or two for parts to arrive from the other side of town. That is just the way the logistics work here. It is honest work and it keeps us on our feet. We see a lot of the same faces every month. It feels like we are just part of the furniture in Ravivar Peth now. We will probably be here for many more years too.
