Star Bag Works

Our spot at Star Bag Works is right on the street near Dawood Fazal School. It gets quite loud and lively when the kids come out of class in the afternoons, running around Indra Vihar and making a lot of noise. The address is 189-191, and we are tucked in near the Masjid on Undirai Road. Most of the day is spent looking at different fabrics and trying to get the stitching exactly right on the machines. We have a couple of old sewing machines that make a real racket, but they are reliable enough for what we need. The floor is usually covered in scraps of material and colorful thread by the time evening rolls around and we have to sweep up. We don't really have a showroom or a fancy place to sit down. It’s mostly just us working in the back and hoping the heat isn't too bad during the summer months. Sometimes a neighbor stops by to chat for a few minutes or ask for a small repair on a zipper. We’ve been in this specific area for a while now, so we know most of the faces passing by every day. The lighting inside isn't the best, so we keep the big doors open to let the natural sun in as much as possible. It gets dusty because of the road being so close, but you get used to that after a week. We keep our tools on a wooden rack that my uncle built years ago.
