Our shop is located at Level 1, 111 New Tejpal Ind Estate on the Andheri-Kurla Road in Sakinaka. Spartan Engineering Industries Pvt. Ltd. has been in this spot for a long time. If you’ve ever been to Sakinaka, you know how loud and crowded it gets with all the vehicles and people. Inside the industrial estate, it’s much the same. There’s always the sound of machines running and metal hitting metal. We do various types of engineering work, mostly making parts for bigger companies. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings, and there’s a thick smell of oil everywhere. It’s a practical environment, not a clean one. We have a small group of workers who know these machines inside and out. We don’t have a big HR department or fancy lunchrooms. We usually just eat our tiffin boxes right at the benches. Sometimes the machinery breaks down and we have to spend the whole day fixing it ourselves. It’s part of the job. People come to us because we’ve been around and we know how to handle the tools. We don’t make any big promises, we just take the drawings people give us and try to make the parts right. It’s a bit hot and cramped in the estate, but we’re used to it. That’s just how engineering in Sakinaka is. We stay busy and keep the machines running as best as we can.
