Southland Tanners

Southland Tanners is located in the Janmabhoomi Chambers at 309, right on W. H. Marg in the Fort area. It is an old part of the city with a lot of history in the buildings. Being in room 309 means we have a bit of a view, but mostly we are looking at stacks of leather samples and old ledger books. Tanning is an old-school business, and we try to keep that spirit alive here. The Fort area is always crowded with people rushing to work, but once you step into Janmabhoomi Chambers, things feel a little more settled and quiet. We spend our days talking to suppliers and checking the quality of the hides that come in. It is not a clean job; leather has a very specific smell and it stays with you long after you leave the office. We don't have a modern, glass-walled office. Our space at 309 is filled with old wooden furniture and the hum of a ceiling fan. W. H. Marg is a great place to be because everything we need is within walking distance. We have been here long enough that the security guards and the chai wallah know us by name. It is a simple life. We focus on the leather, we handle the paperwork, and we make sure the business keeps running. It is a practical, no-nonsense way to work, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
