If you head down to 391 Sane Guruji Marg in the Aagripada Gass Bazar area, you’ll find us. Sofiya Engineering Works has been operating out of this spot in Mahalaxmi for a good amount of time. It’s a noisy area, what with all the workshops and the general buzz of the market, but we’ve gotten used to it. Tools and machinery fill the place, and there’s usually the smell of metal and oil in the air. It’s not the kind of place where you’d wear a suit. We’re usually in our work clothes, getting our hands dirty with whatever project is on the bench that day. The neighborhood has a lot of history, and you can feel it in the old buildings around us. We aren't trying to be the biggest engineering firm in Mumbai; we just want to do honest work for the people who need it. Some days are slower than others, which gives us time to clean the machines and organize the spare parts. Other days, it’s a rush from morning till night. A small team works here, and we’ve all been working together long enough that we don’t need to say much to get things moving. It’s a practical way of living. We see a lot of regular faces from the Gass Bazar area. It’s a tight community and we appreciate being a small part of it. We just keep our heads down.
