S.K Masala

We’ve been here in New Bharat Nagar for a good while now. Our shop is right on Wasi Naka Road, and most people around here know where that is because we are quite close to the Laxmi Mata Mandir. Chembur East is a busy place, but our little corner feels familiar. We spend our days grinding spices and mixing masalas. It is dusty work, and the air is always thick with the smell of turmeric and red chilies. Sometimes it makes the passersby sneeze. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just us, the machines, and piles of spice bags. We try to keep things simple. If you walk past the temple, you can usually hear the hum of our grinders. People from the neighborhood come by for their daily kitchen needs. We weigh everything out on an old scale. It’s a lot of manual work, bagging things up and making sure the counters are somewhat clean. The traffic on Wasi Naka Road is always noisy, but we are used to it by now. My family has lived in this area for years, so we know the local faces. We don't do big advertisements or put up glossy posters. Most of our customers come because someone else told them about us. That’s how a small business survives in a place like Chembur. We just focus on the task, day after day, and try to be honest with what we sell.
