Silver Purse

We’ve been here at Shivalaya Shopping Centre for a good while now. It’s right across from the Natraj Theatre on Galemandi Road. You know how Chembur gets, busy and loud, but our little spot stays mostly organized with all the purses we keep on the shelves. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so there’s usually one of us sitting behind the counter most days. We have a lot of different styles, some shiny ones for weddings and just plain ones for everyday use. People coming from the Delhi Gate side stop in quite often. It’s not a huge place, just shop number 34, so it gets a bit crowded when more than three people are looking at once. We try to keep things dusted, though the street dust is a constant battle. Sometimes we get new stock on Tuesdays, and that’s when the floor is covered in plastic and boxes for a few hours. It’s just how it goes. If you’re walking past the theater, you can’t really miss us. We don’t have any fancy music playing or anything, just the sound of the fans and the traffic outside. It’s a decent spot to work. We’ve seen many shops come and go around here, but we just keep doing what we do with the purses. Nothing too complicated about it. We open up in the morning and stay until the evening rush starts to die down. It works for us.
