Siddhivinayak General Store

Siddhivinayak General Store is our place in Bhandup West, near Lal Darwaza 2. We open up pretty early in the morning, usually before most people are even awake, because folks need their milk and bread. The store is packed with all kinds of things like soap, flour, biscuits, and snacks. We don't have a lot of room to move around because we try to fit as much as possible onto the shelves. It is a bit of a squeeze when more than two people are inside. We know almost everyone who walks through the door since they live in the nearby buildings. We spend the day ringing up small purchases and chatting about the weather or the news. It is a very local kind of life. Sometimes the kids come in after school to buy candy, and that is usually the loudest part of our day. We don't have any big corporate goals; we just want to make sure the shelves aren't empty when someone needs something. The location at Lal Darwaza is easy to find, and we have been here for years. The floor is worn down from all the feet walking in and out. It is just a simple general store run by people who live right here in the neighborhood. We close up late once the dinner rush is over and then do it all again tomorrow. That is just how it is for us.
