Shree Maniganndan Flower Stall

You can find us right near the post office in Matunga at stall number 2. It’s a small spot, but we make it work. Every morning is a bit of a rush because the fresh flowers arrive early while the air is still cool. Shree Maniganndan Flower Stall has been part of this street for a while. We spend a lot of time trimming stems and getting the garlands ready for the day. The ground is usually a bit wet from the buckets of water we keep to keep the blooms fresh. It smells like jasmine and roses around here most of the time, which is much better than the smell of the city traffic. People stop by on their way to the post office or after getting off the train. We don’t have a website or a big office. It’s just the stall and us. Sometimes the rain makes things difficult, but we just pull the plastic sheets down and keep going. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and talking to the regulars who come by every week. We know a lot of the neighbors by name. The colors of the flowers are bright against the grey pavement of Matunga. It’s a simple way to make a living, and we enjoy being out in the open air. There’s always someone stopping to ask the price or just to look at what’s in season today. That is pretty much our whole world from sunrise to sunset.
