Shree Mahavir General Stores

We are located at Shop No 9 in C S Tiwari Chawl, right here in Jogeshwari East. If you know Sai Chowk, we are just across from the Govardhan Complex. The shop has been around for some time now and it's basically just a small place where we keep all the daily things people need. Most mornings start early because the delivery trucks come by around seven or eight. It gets quite crowded in this part of Mumbai, especially when everyone is headed to work or the station. Our space isn't very big, so we have to stack things pretty high on the shelves to make everything fit. Sometimes the dust from the road gets in, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the jars and packets. People from the chawl come in for a single packet of biscuits or some soap, and we just hand it over. It’s not a fancy setup with air conditioning or anything like that. We have a couple of fans that we keep running throughout the day to keep the air moving. My cousin helps out when it gets busy in the evenings. We don't really have a big story to tell. We just open the shutters, wait for customers, and close up when the street gets quiet. It’s a simple routine that we follow every day except for some holidays. You see the same faces every day and you get used to what everyone likes. It can get quite loud with the traffic outside but we don't mind it much.
