Shiv Shakti Luggage

Shiv Shakti Luggage is at 3 Amar Villa in Kandivali West. It is a decent spot, though the parking outside can be a real headache most days. The shop is part of the building, so we know most of the people who live upstairs in the apartments. We have suitcases lined up along the walls. Some are the hard shell kind and others are soft fabric. We try to keep them organized by size but that usually falls apart by noon when things get busy. The morning routine is always the same for us. We unlock the heavy locks, roll up the shutters, and start bringing out the display pieces to the sidewalk. It is a lot of lifting. We don’t have a computer system for the stock; we just write things down in a big paper ledger when something sells. It is more reliable for us that way. The lighting in Amar Villa isn't the brightest, so we sometimes take the bags out to the street so the customers can see the true color in the sunlight. We get a lot of families coming in right before the school holidays start. It gets loud and a bit chaotic with kids running around the stacks of bags, but we don't mind. It is just a part of running a shop in Kandivali. We keep a teapot in the back for when friends drop by to talk.
