Sharad Flowers Mart

Sharad Flowers Mart is in Ghatkopar West, near the Dutta Mandir. It's kind of by the Crawford Market area here. It's a very busy part of the city, and there’s always something going on. We have been running this mart for quite a while now. The temple brings in a lot of people, especially on certain days of the week. We open up quite early because that’s when people want their flowers for morning prayers. Our space is pretty basic, just some racks and buckets for the stock. It’s not very big, but we fit a lot in there. You can usually find us sitting out front or working in the back. The area gets really packed during festivals, and we barely have room to move. It’s a lot of hard work, mostly standing on your feet all day and dealing with the heat. We don't really do anything fancy like bouquets with ribbons, we just sell the flowers as they come. Most of our customers are locals who live within walking distance. The smell of incense from the temple and the flowers makes it a nice place to be. We’re just regular people trying to make a living in the market. We don't have a phone that we answer all the time, so people just show up. It’s just how we have always done things around here in Ghatkopar.
