Shammi Bags

We have been here at 13/14 Akash Ganga Chember for quite some time now. Dharavi is always moving, and so are we. Our shop is mostly filled with rolls of fabric and zippers scattered around. It isn't a fancy showroom with bright lights, just a place where we get the work done. Usually, the machines are running all day, and it gets a bit loud. People come in looking for something to carry their stuff in, and we show them what is on the racks. Sometimes the tea guy comes by and we take a short break, but mostly we are busy. We started with just a few patterns and now there are bags everywhere you look. It's crowded, but we know where everything is. The 3rd stage area is always busy with people moving through the narrow lanes. We don't spend much time on fancy decorations because the focus is on the stitching. If a strap is loose, we fix it right there. It is just a regular shop where we try to make things that last for the people in the neighborhood. Some days are slow, others we can't keep up. That is how it goes here. We don't have a big office or anything, just this space in the chamber. You can hear the sounds of the street outside while we work on the latest batch of school bags or travel kits. It is just us doing what we know.
