Shah Ramji Bachubhai Kirana Store

Shah Ramji Bachubhai Kirana Store is located in Mahesh Kunj on Tilak Road in Ghatkopar East. We have two shops, number 7 and 8, which gives us enough room to keep all the bulk grains and oils we need to stock. Mumbai is a fast city, but here in Ghatkopar, things feel a little more settled. We have been running this kirana store for quite a long time. The shop has that old smell of spices and pulses, which I personally like. We use heavy metal scales for weighing things out, and there are always sacks of rice sitting on the floor. It is a bit of a workout moving those around every morning. Tilak Road is always busy with cars and people walking to the station, so there is never a dull moment. We have regular customers who have been coming to us for years, some even since they were children. I spend most of my day behind the wooden counter, marking bills and talking to the helpers. We do not really do any advertising; people just know we are here in Mahesh Kunj. Sometimes the rains make it hard to keep the shop floor dry, but we have our ways of managing. It is just a traditional family business where we take things one day at a time. We close up late in the evening once the last of the office crowd has gone home.
