Seven Florist

Our place is on the ground floor of the Tejpal Building on Tardeo Road. If you are coming from Grant Road, it is quite easy to spot. The street is always full of cars and buses, so there is a constant hum of engines in the background. Seven Florist is where we spend the bulk of our week. We have a routine that starts with opening the shutters and sweeping the front. The ground floor location is good because we don't have to carry heavy crates up any stairs. Inside, it is fairly simple. We have our tools laid out on the main counter and the floor is usually covered in bits of leaves and stems by noon. We use whatever buckets we have on hand to keep the plants hydrated. Tardeo is a part of town that feels very lived-in. We know the other shopkeepers nearby and often chat with them during the quieter hours. It isn't a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. We spend a lot of time making sure things are tied correctly and nothing is wilting. When the monsoon hits, the rain splashes right into the doorway, so we have to move everything back a bit. It’s just those little daily things that make up our time here. We just keep at it day after day. There is always something to clean or move, so we stay pretty busy from morning till night.
