Being in Andheri East means you deal with the traffic and the constant noise every single day. Our shop is in the V-1 Building, specifically Unit 20, and it’s a tight squeeze sometimes when we have a lot of orders. We’ve got machines packed in there, and there’s always a faint smell of oil and metal shavings in the air. We’ve been here at the Mehra area for a good bit of time. It’s mostly mechanical stuff we handle day in and day out. People walk by the unit and hear the grinding or the lathes spinning. It’s loud, but we’re used to the racket. The lights in the back flicker a bit if we run too many things at once, but we know how to handle the fuses. Most of the staff live nearby, so they walk or take the local train to get here. We spend a lot of time just fixing things that come in from other shops. There isn't a big reception area or a place for guests to sit. You just walk in and someone is usually bent over a workbench working on a small part. We don’t have fancy uniforms. Usually, it’s just old shirts that we don't mind getting grease on. Lunch happens whenever we find a gap in the work. Sometimes it's at two, sometimes it's at four in the afternoon. We just keep our heads down and finish the orders. It’s a regular engineering workshop with floors that never stay clean for very long.
