Saraswati Super Market & General Stores

Malad West is a place that never really stays quiet for long, and being on Marve Road means there is always something going on outside. Our shop, Saraswati Super Market & General Stores, is located at Shop No 2 inside the New C View Co Operative Society Ltd. It is a good location because the residents of the society can just walk down whenever they run out of milk or bread. Mumbai life is always about being in a hurry, so we see people rushing in and out all day. We keep a lot of variety, from basic toiletries to all the different types of grains and spices you might need for cooking at home. The Marve Road traffic can be quite a headache during the peak hours, but it brings a lot of people past our doors. We try to keep the shop clean, though the dust from the road always finds a way in. It is just a family-run kind of place where we know which neighbor likes which brand of tea. We don't have any big corporate systems, just a simple counter and a lot of shelves stacked high. Most days are spent just chatting with the regulars and making sure the inventory is right. It gets really busy on the weekends when everyone is doing their big shopping for the week ahead. That is when it feels the most like a real community business.
