Santoshimata Engineering Works

Our place, Santoshimata Engineering Works, is at 17-C in the Tarun Plastic Industrial Estate on Mogra Village Road. It’s a busy little corner of the world. The road outside is always dusty because of the construction nearby. We have a small unit where we handle all sorts of machining jobs. It's mostly just me and a couple of other guys working the lathes and the drills. The walls are covered in calendars from years ago and old tools hanging on hooks. We don’t use a lot of high-tech gadgets; most of it is done by hand and experience. Sometimes the rain comes down so hard on the tin roof that we can’t even hear ourselves talk. We just keep working through it. It’s not a glamorous job, and we usually go home covered in oil and metal dust. We’ve been on Mogra Village Road for quite a while now, so we know the other shop owners around here. If we run out of something, we just go next door and borrow it. It’s a good community. We don’t have a lot of rules, we just show up and get the orders finished. It’s simple, honest work. Sometimes things go wrong and a machine breaks down, but we just fix it ourselves and keep going. We don't spend much time worrying about the office side of things. We just like being out here making things.
