Samir Florist

Working over here at 7 Near Akbarallys on Pampamahakavi Road in Santacruz West keeps us pretty busy. It’s a lively area, and being near the main road means there is always someone walking by. Samir Florist is basically just a few of us trying to keep the lilies and carnations looking okay in the heat. We don't have any big corporate backing or fancy displays, just some wooden racks and old buckets. The floor is almost always wet because we’re constantly changing the water to keep things fresh. You can see the traffic jam starting early in the afternoon right outside our door. Sometimes the dust from the road gets on the leaves, so we have to wipe them down one by one. It’s tedious, but it has to be done. We get a lot of people coming from the station side, looking for something to take home. We don't really do anything fancy with marketing; people just know we’re here next to Akbarallys. The smell of the tuberoses is quite strong in the evenings, which is nice after a long day of cutting stems and tying knots. Our hands get calloused from the wires, and there’s always a pile of green scraps in the corner waiting to be cleared out. It’s just a regular local shop in Santacruz West where we do our best with what the market gives us each day, and that's enough for us.
