Sakshi Flowers

Sakshi Flowers is located on the first floor near Sharda Ashram. We’re in the Chembur Colony area, specifically on the Dadar West side of the neighborhood. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs to get to us, but that’s where we do all our flower arrangements and sorting. The floor is usually covered in stems, leaves, and bits of green string. It’s always a bit of a mess during the wedding season, but we try to clean it up every night before we leave. We get our flowers fresh from the market very early in the morning, usually around four or five. My hands are always stained with plant juice and I usually have a few small cuts from the rose thorns. It’s just the nature of the work we do. We don't have a fancy refrigerated display like the big flower shops you see in the malls. We just keep the flowers in buckets of water and try to get them out to the customers as fast as possible so they stay fresh. People come to us when they need decorations for a small house puja or a bigger family event. We don't have a glossy catalog to show people. We just show them photos on our phones of the work we’ve done recently. It’s a small operation. Most of the time it’s just me and one other person working here. We know the people at Sharda Ashram quite well. It’s a nice neighborhood.
