Sadhana Society For The Mentally Handicapped

You can find our place at B-16 in the Shiv Krupa Building, which is over in Borivali East. We are very close to the National Park, so the area is a bit quieter and greener than the rest of the city. We have been working with people who have mental handicaps for many years now. It is not a fancy hospital or a cold institution. We try to keep it feeling like a normal home as much as we can. The rooms are a bit old and the paint might be peeling in a few corners, but we fill the space with activity and care. We don't have a huge staff or a big budget to work with. Most of us are just local people who wanted to do something useful with our time. The days are usually filled with small tasks and helping the individuals with their daily routines. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic, but that is just part of life here. We don't use a lot of complicated words to describe what we do. We just help out where we are needed. Being so close to the park means we get some nice breezes in the evenings when the sun goes down. Families from the neighborhood often stop by to check in on how things are going. We don't have any big corporate backers. We just rely on the community and our own hard work to keep the doors open.
