Uttam Glass

We are over at Uttam Glass, specifically at No-192 in the Pavapuri Building. That’s on the 9th Lane of Khetwadi. It’s a bit of a maze back here if you aren't familiar with the lanes. The building is older, but it’s sturdy. We have glass everywhere, as you might expect. You have to be careful where you step. We spend most of our time cutting, measuring, and moving sheets around. It's a hands-on kind of job. The noise of the street outside is always there, but we don't mind it much. We've got a small crew. We know our way around a piece of glass. People come to us from all over the neighborhood when they need something specific. We don't have a showroom or anything polished. It’s a workshop, plain and simple. There are tools on the benches and dust on the floor. We try to keep it tidy, but work gets messy. The lighting inside isn't the best, so we rely on the lamps at the workstations. We've been in Khetwadi for a long time. It’s a good place for a trade like ours. We just do the orders as they come in. No big speeches, just glass work. The machines hum all day and we stay focused on the cuts. If someone stops by, they usually just walk through the open shutter. That's how we've always operated. We just handle the glass and get it ready for the customers.
