S. B. Bags

We are located at S. B. Bags in the Dharavi area, right near the New Golden Sunrise Building. Our workshop is on the ground floor of a new chawl in Palwadi. If you walk down the Dharavi Cross Road, you’ll find us easily enough. It’s a very active neighborhood, always sounds of machines and people talking loudly. We have our sewing machines set up where we spend most of our daylight hours. There are rolls of fabric and piles of straps all over the floor. It’s not a showroom; it’s more of a place where things actually get made by hand. We’ve been in this spot for a while, and the space is tight but we make it work for us. Sometimes the rain makes the road outside a bit messy, but we keep our materials high up and dry. We make all kinds of bags here, stitching them together one by one. You can hear the hum of the motors throughout the day. We don't have a fancy office or anything like that. Just a few benches and the tools we use for our trade. People from the neighborhood often stop by to say hello or ask for a quick repair on a handle or a buckle. We just do our work and keep things moving. It’s a lot of manual labor, and our hands are usually a bit tired by the end of the day. We’re proud of what we put together in this little corner of Dharavi. We just work and go home.
