About Rudru Kirani Store – Food & Beverages in Mumbai
Finding us can be a little tricky because this road doesn't really have a name on the maps, but everyone in Jagat knows the way. It’s a quiet spot most of the time, away from the big noise of the highway. The store isn't very large, so we have to stack the crates pretty high up toward the ceiling. I spend a lot of time climbing the small ladder to get down the snacks or the bigger soap packets. It’s mostly just basic things people need for their kitchens like spices, dal, and rice. Sometimes the cat from next door comes in and sits on the porch, watching the motorbikes go by. We try to keep the floor swept, but with the dirt road right outside, the dust always finds a way back in under the door. I usually have the radio playing some old songs in the background to keep me company when the street is empty. It’s mostly people I’ve known for years who stop by. We talk about the local news or how the crops are doing while I weigh out the sugar into plastic bags. It’s a simple routine that doesn't change much from one month to the next. I like the smell of the spices when I open the containers in the morning. It’s just a small shop on an unnamed road, but it’s where I spend all my time from morning until we lock up at night.
