Leather House

Our shop is right at Shop No. A-2 in Sainath Niketan, just on Rohidas Marg. It’s directly across from Gold Failed Plaza, so it isn’t too hard to find us if you’re looking. The space is a bit cramped because we keep a lot of stock piled up inside. We have bags and belts and other bits of leather stacked on the counters. It gets a bit dusty because of the road outside, but we try to keep things moving. We open up early and stay until the street lights come on. Customers usually walk in looking for a specific belt size or a wallet that won't fall apart. We show them what we have on the racks. There’s no air conditioning here, so in the summer we just keep the door wide open and hope for a breeze. The neighbors stop by to chat sometimes while we are working on a repair. We use a lot of glue and heavy scissors. Sometimes the scissors get blunt and we have to spend time sharpening them on a stone. It’s a noisy street with all the traffic going to the plaza, but we don't mind it much. We’ve been at this spot for years and the walls are starting to peel a bit. It is just a regular shop where we sell leather things to people passing by. We keep the ledger in a drawer and write everything down by hand.
