Rajesh Ice Cream

We have been running Rajesh Ice Cream in Malad West for a long time now. It is a very basic shop without any of the modern bells and whistles you see in the malls. We have our deep freezers lined up against the wall and a small counter where we take orders. Most of our customers are people from the neighborhood who have been coming to us for years. We don't have a big menu with hundreds of items. We just keep the popular flavors that everyone likes. The heat in Malad can be quite bad, so the freezers have to work overtime to keep everything solid. We spend a lot of time just checking the compressors to make sure nothing has failed. It is a lot of manual labor, lifting the heavy tubs and keeping the place tidy. We don't have a staff in uniforms or anything like that. We just wear our regular clothes and get on with the work. The evenings are usually our busiest time when everyone comes out for a walk after their dinner. It gets a bit crowded then and we have to move fast. We don't have a lot of space for people to hang around inside, so they usually congregate on the sidewalk. It is a very local, old-fashioned way of doing business. We don't do any online marketing. People just know our name because we have been here in Malad for so long.
