Rajan General Stores

This store is tucked away in the Lokhandwala Complex area of Andheri West. Specifically, you can find us at Shop No 620 on the 8th Main, right near 4th Cross. It is a busy neighborhood so there is always a lot of noise from the street. I spend most of my time checking the stock and making sure the jars are filled up. We have been in this spot for some time and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we are too busy to get to it. The shelves are packed tight with all sorts of household items from detergent to tea leaves. Sometimes the delivery guys come all at once and the entrance gets blocked for a few minutes while we unload the sacks. It is just me and a couple of others helping out. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. It is more about having what people ask for when they walk in tired after work. The light inside is a bit dim towards the back but we know our way around. It feels like a small part of the community here. Most of the regulars live just a few minutes away so we see the same faces every day. It is a straightforward business and we just keep things moving as best as we can. There is always a list of things to order for the next day to keep the shelves from looking empty as the week goes on.
