Raj Kamal Spices

If you walk around Parel 2, you might smell us before you see us. Raj Kamal Spices has been here for quite a while now. The air in our shop is always thick with the scent of different peppers, seeds, and powders. It makes you sneeze sometimes if you aren’t used to it. We spend most of the day weighing things out on the old scales and bagging them up for customers. We have big sacks of raw spices sitting on the floor. It is a very hands-on kind of job. The shop isn't very large, but we pack a lot into the space we have. Parel is a lively area and there is always something going on outside our door. We know most of the families who live around here because they come to us for their kitchen needs every week. We don't have any fancy packaging or big marketing plans. We just sell spices in plain bags. Sometimes the floors get a bit dusty with turmeric or chili powder, but that’s just how it goes in this trade. We like the routine of opening up, sorting the new stock, and talking to the regulars. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning to night. We are just a small part of the neighborhood here in Parel 2. We’ve been here so long the smell is just part of our clothes now, and we don't mind it at all.
