Rahul Ice Cream & Fast Food Centre

We’ve been running this shop on Fort Wadarwadi Road 5 for a good while now. It’s just a small place, really, squeezed in between the other buildings. Most days it starts with opening the shutters and checking the fridges to make sure everything stayed cold overnight. The ice cream machines make a constant humming sound that you eventually stop noticing after an hour or two. People come in from the road, usually looking for a quick bite or something cold because it gets quite dusty and hot outside on Road 5. We keep a few stools for folks to sit on, but they aren’t the most comfortable things in the world. Sometimes the delivery guys for the food ingredients arrive late and we have to shuffle things around in the back. There isn't much space back there. We do some fast food too, so the smell of frying oil usually sticks to our clothes by the end of the shift. It's not a fancy setup. The menu board has some smudges on it that won't come off, and one of the lights flickers if you hit the switch too hard. We just keep the place going day by day. You see the same faces every afternoon, mostly kids after school or guys finishing work nearby. It gets noisy when the blender is going and three people are talking at once, but that's just how it is here. We just focus on getting the orders right and keeping the floor mostly clean.
